FATAL ERROR - helpers/route.php on line 75

Hi Fredrica,
my husband was working on the library component in our website, modifying a book and the website crashed with the following message:
Fatal error: Call to a member function getPath() on a non-object in /home/s1054206/public_html/new/components/com_abook/helpers/route.php on line 75
He went into this folder and deleted the whole line with no result so he has put it back.
We are stumped to know how to progress with a-book, and unable to do anything else on the website until this is corrected.
Please advise.

which versions are you using? (joomla, Abook, PHP)

Hi Fredrica,
we are using the latest version of Alexandria Book Library, the latest version of Joomla (3.3.6) and PHP 5.4.33.
The issue over and over is with categories.
We cannot create new categories as a parent - all new categories now appear as sub and sub-sub categories of whatever category we last had open.
When we disabled/unpublished everything related to ABook the website was usable again.

Are you using Abook 3.0.0 or 3.1.0?

I suspect there is a problem related to categories. At line 75 there is a function that scan the category tree.
Can you give me the database table #__abcategories?
