The version is ok so even the other files is updated. Maybe the version in the database did not update correctly.
Try to install Abook 4.0.6 again without uninstall it.

The path is not /components/com_abook... but administrator/components/com_abook/abook.xml

This is very strange.
Try to open the file administrator/components/com_abook/abook.xml then check the version value. Is it correct?
Go to System->database. Do you see some warnings?

abook version - 4.0.2.

I tried to update to version 4.0.6 (04 Dec 2024).
The update is successful, but when I go to the list of extensions, the version is still 4.0.2.
Maybe I'm doing it wrong, and first I need to completely delete the old version?
But then the database with articles will probably be deleted?

Was it possible to add DOI to the display as a list?

Yes, I added the DOI number to category view. I will publish the change to the next release.
In the meantime, tell mi the version of abook you are using so I will give you the modified file.

"button" to export the entire list in a table form

I've added it to my TODO, but I haven't a release date

punti interrogativi al posto delle vocali accentate e apostrofi.

Da Phpmyadmin controlla come sono scritti quei testi. Se contengono caratteri strani, probabilmente il database vecchio aveva un charset diverso rispetto a quello del database nuovo.
Per correggere il problema dovresti verificare che i due database abbiano per stesse impostazioni e poi rifare l'importazione.

Se l'errore non si presenta con le nuove categorie direi che la gerarchia delle categorie è a posto. Da phpmyadmin prova a confrontare una categoria funzionante con una non funzionante.

errore: Incorrect datetime value: ''

Per l'errore nel salvataggio delle categorie dovresti guardare se nel campo "Data di creazione" (o "Created Date" in inglese) la data è corretta, eventualmente cancellala e reinseriscila usando il datepicker.

Non posso cancellare le categorie Cestinate

vediamo se risolvendo gli altri due problemi va a posto anche questo

Ho modificato la data di inserimento e l'autore "creato da" in ogni singola categoria e sembra che tutto vada bene.
L'unica cosa su cui posso anche sorvolare, sono le date di inserimento dei libri che dopo l'importazione sono state congelate al  "Martedì, 30 Novembre -0001" e qualche problemino di codifica per quanto riguarda l'inserimento del testo prelevato da pagine web e incollato nell'editor "descrizione del libro" che visualizza punti interrogativi al posto delle vocali accentate e apostrofi.
