No categories

Hello,
I have the same problem someone posted before. I created categories and many books have been saved in those categories. However, when I view those entries, they have no category assigned and there are no categories available in the scroll down. When I try to edit any of them, I am not able to save changes because they have no category assigned. This used to work just fine before and for some reason now it does not.
Why do you think this is?
I am thinking updating to 204 might help? I have 202.
I would greatly appreciate some help.

yes, try to update to the latest version, then tell us if you still have the problem
