Title: No 'lend' option on website
Post by: Watnog on 10 August 2015, 15:18:26
Hi Alexandria's,

I can't make the 'lend' option appear on the frontend.
I've been searching the forum for clues but apart from ensuring that the option is set to enabled (which it is, see attached) I could not find any.

What may cause the 'lend' button to not appear?
Thank you very much.
W.

Hi Watnog,
try to delete the cache if it is enable.
Can you post the link to your site in a page where you expec the 'lend' button?

Ok, Watnog, I saw, you can to disable the user guest.
Do you have filled the number of copy for every books?

Yes, they all have a number of copies entered.

I actually have seen it work (lend button on website) at a certain point.
I turned it off however not seeing use at that time. So the problem would be with re-activating the feature.
In "control panel > lends" I can change status of a book to 'lent'.
(And I don't use cache, ref  your first response).

All ideas welcome.
Thanks Federica.

You are using abook 3.1.0?

Yes, 3.1 on Joomla 3.4

If tried a fresh Joomla install with a fresh ABL, and import of just the database.
The import said it imported 240 queries successfully but I don't find anything back (books, authors, ...).

Cheers.

Changing table prefix did that job.

As for the 'lend' option, i reinstalled joomla and abook in a new directory.
I exported a csv file from previous installation and imported that (the mysql export/import reproduced the issue).
With just the books I do have the lend option available now.
From here I can move forward again.
Cheers,
Pascal

Lend option is not stored in the book data but it is stored in the db #__extensions table. Import back all books by csv I think it isn't a solution.

Hi Federica, I build my site anew and have been alright.
I found however that if you prefer to not show "hits" (configuration page>books), the lend option disappears with it.
I went back to my previous site, checked "show hits" and "lent status" - "lend request" showed up with it.

Cheers,
Watnog

Good morning Federica.
The library looks nice, thank you very much.

If we need to have 'hits' enabled for lend to work, a related question: can one reset the hits count?
In my testing I have clicked the same books over and over, which makes those illegitimate champions...

 ;D ;D ;D
Yes, you can use the "reset hits" button above the books list, by backend.
