Title: Parent-child category errors
Post by: dimkouv on 15 February 2016, 17:00:32
Greetings! I'm trying to set up and test your project, which I find rather tempting and well-organized. However, I've stumbled upon a bug, which is about how Abook manipulates child-categories and stores the values in the database. While creating categories without dealing with the parent levels, everything goes alright. But when I create / edit a category and set a parent category, it puts it under another parent. Moreover when I try to put a second category under that wrong-parent, then the first child becomes (awkwardly) a higher level child (i.e. 2->3) under the same parent.

The problem must be in the file /administrator/components/com_abook/models/category.php but I'm not a good php user to tell where the bug exactly is. Could you please take a look at this?

Thank you so much!  ;D Do I have to uninstall the previous version before installing the new one or is there some update link? I wouldn't mind uninstalling it, because I have only put sample data to test it.

You can install the new version without uninstall the previous version.
I suggest you to make a backup before the update
