Hi everyone! Greeting from Argentina!

I'll tell you my story:

A few weeks ago I started working on an old website of some friends of mine. When they launched the site, Joomla was on his early stages as well as Alexandria Book Library. So they installed Abook 1.0. The library started growing and now has more than 2000 entries.

When they contacted me, they told me their idea is to create a new and fresh website. So my plan was to set the website with Wordpress (4.1) on the main domain, and Joomla (3.3) and Abook (3.1.0) on a subdomain. This is because I want to have the liberty to do anything we want on the website, without needing to touch the library database. The idea is to preserve the library database, wich is the most important component of the site.

As you might know, the problem is that with 1.0 version of Abook, there isn't an import / export tool. So, my question to you is: ¿is there anyway to export the database from the oldest version of Abook, and import it to the latest?

Thank you for you time!

Gonzalo

Hi Gonzalo,
there isn't an import/export tool from Abook 1.0 to abook 3.1.0. The raw method is only way to migrate the database. You have to export the old tables so make some changes then import them to the new database.

Hi Federica, thanks for your answer. One last question: in what consists the raw method?

You have to export the old tables, modify them then import to the new database.
