migrating to joomla 3

I followed your Howto Migrating Abook from Joomla2.5 to 3  for upgrade tot 3.4.1, made a backup from within the book library control panel, then did a website upgrade tot Joomla 3.4.1, installed new Book library from com_abook_3_1_0.tgz (succeeded) and imported the database back again from within  the book library control panel; then I restored all the folders e.g. /images/abook/ and administrator/components/com_abook/uploads/ as you described. But no books showed up. After inspecting the exported database I found it empty. every line in it says:

INSERT INTO #__abauthor (id,name,alias,image,description,checked_out,checked_out_time,metakey,metadesc,state,language) VALUES ('','','','','','','','','','','');
or
INSERT INTO #__abbook (id,asset_id,title,subtitle,alias,ideditor,price,pag,user_id,created_by_alias,description,image,file,year,idlocation,idlibrary,vote,numvote,hits,published,catid,qty,isbn,approved,userid,url,url_label,dateinsert,catalogo,checked_out,checked_out_time,access,metakey,metadesc,language,ordering,params,note,editedby) VALUES ('','','','','','','','','','','','','','','','','','','','','','','','','','','','','','','','','','','','','','','');

etc etc

any help appreciated!

Hi Bert,
open Joomla2.5 site, go to global configuration->Server->Database Settings and set "Database Type" = Mysql, so try to export again.

Sorry, but I followed ALL of your instructions precisely, and did it two times very precisely again (restoring old Joomla version and database as well) , same result!

Finally I  succeeded in the migration process.
